Reefer Madness (1936)

Propaganda film that relates the story, as told by high school principal Dr. Carroll to parents at a PTA meeting, of the scourge of marijuana. The tale revolves around Mae and Jack, accomplices in the distribution of marijuana, who manage to entice the local high school kids to stop by Mae’s apartment to smoke reefer. The lives of all who are involved with this menace are inevitably shattered. One man becomes so addicted to the killer weed that the guilt over framing a teen for murder causes a judge to order him to be committed for life to a mental hospital! Dr. Carroll closes by advising us to not incur the same tragedy.

He started editing commercials five years later but has since explored almost every genre imaginable, with feature films being his favourite medium.
Richard is also a post supervisor and colorist on many of his projects.
He lives in Cape Town with his wife and two daughters and plays a lot of squash in his spare time.


I know this is a bit of a mixed bag. My intention was to make the whole film like a stoner music video, with lots pf effects, transitions and color added.
But the story and acting was so weird that there didn’t seem to be a need for it.
I should probably have redone the intro but couldn’t part with it!
